What We Do
Our treatment approach is based on science using The Performance Pyramid. The focus at the bottom of the pyramid is when someone has been injured or learning a new skill, here manual therapy and modalities can help to address pain, inflammation, and increase body awareness. The middle of the pyramid is where movement-based therapy works to develop strength, new habits and ways to move. The top of the pyramid is being able to perform at your potential the activities you enjoy.
To reach optimal functioning you need to move through the pyramid addressing all components. If you miss a tier, long-term changes may not persist, risking re-injury or further dysfunction. By guiding you through the pyramid we will help you maximize your function putting you in charge of your body.
We offer some of the most highly experienced physiotherapists in your area.
At Core Kinesis Physiotherapy we use a combination of manual and movement-based therapy. We are dedicated and pride ourselves in delivering the highest quality of care by using evidence-based practice to address your core issues. In doing this, we use a holistic approach by incorporating mind, body and spirit.
Our mind is the control center of our body, simply put the brain sends signals from the nervous system to the muscular system, which in part gets us to move our joints and body.
With better body awareness we are able to optimize our movement, reducing and preventing injuries from occurring.
By making the connection of our minds and bodies we are able to have a more peaceful spirit with harmony and fluidity in our inner and outer environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Cancellation policy?
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. This allows enough time to provide other clients with an opportunity to book and respects the therapists time. If the appointment is not cancelled within the 24 hour window a full charge will be incurred. However, a benefit of the virtual appointments is that if you are unable to make the appointment in person, we can change the appointment to a virtual session.
Do you have direct billing?
Yes, we have direct billing, though some private insurers do not have direct billing themselves and require paper submissions by the plan holder. On your intake form you will need to complete the private insurance portion. This allows us to determine whether your provider has direct billing available.
Will I get pain relief and be treated on my initial assessment?
Yes, you can expect to be treated on your first visit and gain a clear understanding of your issue during your assessment. You will typically receive relief of pain in this visit, as well be provided with home strategies that allow you to work towards eliminating your pain and maximize your function. We will continually be re-assessing your movements and posture through all visits.
What If I feel worse or have pain after my first visit, what should I do?
Sometimes there may be a bit more pain after your first visit. When performing a thorough assessment, the therapist may need to perform tests that trigger pain to accurately determine your issue. Additionally, when treating with manual therapy techniques (ie. soft tissue work) an increase in pain may be present for the first 24-48 hours, however afterwards you should feel better with overall less pain. If you have further concerns always feel free to contact your therapist to discuss. They are happy to answer any question and provide further strategies and insight until your next appointment.
What should I wear/bring to my appointments?
You will need to wear athletic clothes that allow the therapist to see your body and access the body part that needs to be treated (ie: shorts if your leg is being assessed).
Can I see a physiotherapist when pregnant?
Absolutely! In fact we have pelvic health physiotherapists that are specially trained to address pelvic health and any other issues that may come up during pregnancy and postnatal.
Do I need a doctor's referral for physiotherapy?
Clients do not need a doctor’s note to access physiotherapy. However, some extended health insurers may require a doctor’s note for reimbursement. You may want to check your private insurance plan prior to your visit.
Do you accept ICBC motor vehicle accident and WorkSafeBC injury claims?
Yes, we accept ICBC motor vehicle accident claims. At this time, we do not accept WorkSafeBC injury claims.
What happens if my pain returns?
Pain typically won’t be completely resolved after the first appointment and may return. Depending on the nature of the injury and how long the pain has been around will dictate if pain returns. A good rule of thumb is take note of the things you do that triggers the pain and discuss these with your therapist at your subsequent appointment to assist in minimizing the return of pain.
How many appointments/ sessions will I have?
Your therapist will provide a clear individualized treatment plan that will provide you with a timeline as to the approximate number of treatments that will be required. This can vary depending on the nature of your issue and how long the injury has been around. For minor movement dysfunction or acute injuries, return to function may be seen within 4-8 sessions. For moderate and more chronic issues it can take longer at around 10-14 sessions. For severe and long term chronic conditions this may require up to 20-25 sessions to see significant change in your symptoms. Your therapist will ensure that you have a clear understanding of your treatment plan from start to finish.
How long after surgery should I start physiotherapy?
When to start physiotherapy after surgery depends on the type of surgery. Typically your surgeon will tell you when it is appropriate to start. If you were not provided guidelines from your surgeon then these are some typical guidelines: Soft tissue or fracture repair will start in 4-6 weeks after surgery, post hip or knee replacement therapy can start immediately once discharged from the hospital.
