Aaron John

Registered Kinesiologist

Bsc. Kinesiology

Aaron graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with Honours in the Active Health and Rehabilitation Concentration. His love for athletics and science motivates his approach as an evidence-based, physical wellness professional.

Aaron helps improve physical health through evidence-based, customized exercise programs. He works with clients ranging from youth athletes to older adults with chronic conditions, offering:

  • Return-to-sport and injury rehabilitation exercise
  • Strength and conditioning for youth and adult athletes
  • Exercise programming for obesity, diabetes, and metabolic health
  • Cardiac rehabilitation and functional fitness improvements for older adults

With 5 years of experience as a youth coach with Drive Basketball and 2 years as a student trainer with SFU Athletics, Aaron specializes in age-appropriate and experience-appropriate strength training. He supports athletes through injury, guiding them through return-to-sport protocols.

Aaron also works at a diabetes clinic, where he helps patients navigate lifestyle changes related to exercise and metabolically complex conditions. His practicum with Burnaby Hospital’s Healthy Heart program gave him hands-on experience in functional fitness for older adults living with cardiovascular disease. He practices a compassionate, scientifically grounded approach and is pursuing the esteemed Clinical Exercise Physiologist designation with the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP).

His research interests include chronic disease management and physiological responses to acute illness. He completed an undergraduate honours thesis at Royal Columbian Hospital, studying critically ill patients’ respiratory and cardiovascular responses to mechanical ventilation.

Outside the clinic, Aaron enjoys basketball, running, biking, and swimming. He volunteers with young adult outreach programs at Revive City Church and serves as Assistant Race Director with Spirit Triathlon. He also loves to travel and explore new places, most recently Vienna and the United Kingdom (he highly recommends Café Central in Vienna!).
